This was a really good book. Sharon is a PI who has a knack for discovering dead bodies even though the law firm where works as an investigator doesn't seem to have any murder clients. Anyway, the client in this book wants Sharon to find his missing roommate. She succeeds at finding the missing roommate - the roommate is one of the aforementioned dead bodies that Sharon finds. After finding the body Sharon is unwilling to leave the mystery to cops even though she no longer has a paying client. Her investigation leads her to a hospice where several people have died - or been killed, depending on who you're talking to. Sharon also discovers that with the exception of one person, everyone in town either lies or stonewalls just to keep outsiders out of their business, which is fine except for the fact that there is a murderer running around. I am not about spoilers, so I will just say that the author did an excellent job of masking who the murderer was until the last possible moment, and that you will not see it coming.Product details

McCone is handling a case for a famous, but reclusive photographer. It is a strange case according to the client he had met a woman and offered her a room while she looked for a job. When she disappeared without explanation, he was worried about her. McCone travels up and down the coast to a depressed fishing village populated by bitter people and a nearby upscale hospice, Tidepools, with its own secrets.There will be murders before McCone is able to find the link between old and new crimes.. This is a fast moving and well plotted mystery with McCone in top form.
Love anything written by this author and this was the last book needed to complete my collection so glad to find at a reasonable price
Good book but I guessed "who" dunnit.
I started with her first book and look forward eagerly for each new installment
Love any book by Marcia Muller, though her first stories that contained her whole family were more entertaining. Definitely a thumbs up!
I started with Marcia Muller's later books, and that made me want to see how she started out. In my opinion, she didn't exactly improve with time, just wrote differently. I have read all her Sharon McCone series, except the latest one, obviously. Enjoyed them all. Very glad to find the early ones on , as my library only has the later books. This one is a keeper.
This fasted paced novel finds Sharon chasing a killer using death to cover up prior illegal acts.
Even with the answer in hand, Sharon does not give up the chase. Some day, maybe, she will learn that there is a point where it is better, and less risky, to give up the chase and report her findings to the police so they can apprehend the bad person and close the case
